Near North is one of six defined neighborhoods that you’ll find in Greater North Minneapolis adjacent to Downtown, a culturally diverse area with a population of about 6,200.

Though the neighborhood is characterized by its high percentage of renters (more than 60%) over owners, both in single-family homes and in multi-family units or apartment buildings, you can still uncover ample opportunities to buy.

The assessed value of 99% of single-family homes is less than $200,000. Yet the residential housing market is remarkably stable, with more than 75% of the population occupying the same residence for at least one year.

The Near North area has a variety of local amenities for you to check out, including eateries, grocery stores and other shops, libraries, schools, parks and public transportation. And it is close to Downtown, so virtually everything you could need is in reach!

Neighborhood demographics have changed since 1990 to reflect an aging population. Today, approximately 60% of residents are between the ages of 18 and 64, with another 34% under 18. Previously, under-18 residents in the Near North Minneapolis real estate market numbered 10% higher. The over-65 population, on the other hand, has remained stable.
